Welcome and Congratulations on your new blessing!
My name is Tish and I offer Birth and Postpartum Doula services in Central Connecticut and Hampden County Massachusetts. I also offer belly casting services, baby care class and cloth diapering education.
I am a DONA Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula. I am also a Cesarean/VBAC Support Specialist with the Ontario Perinatal School. I am a volunteer doula with CAPPA's Operation Special Delivery, providing low cost doula services to woman who's partners are deployed during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I am also a part of the mentor/doula program with Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN), providing doula services to high risk woman and their partners. I have been interested in childbirth and infant care ever since I became pregnant with my first daughter. I feel it is my calling to providing this much needed emotional and physical support to woman and their partners during and after childbirth.
In addition to being a doula, I am the mother of three beautiful children and I am happily married to the love of my life. In my spare time I enjoy yoga, reading, gardening, and spending time with my family. It would be my sincere pleasure to meet with you and explore your desires for your birthing experience and postpartum period.
There is no greater journey than that of motherhood. I am very passionate about birth and believe that every woman deserves loving support through their unique journey of pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. I also believe that babies should be born respectfully into gentle and loving hands. It is their birth right. Let's work together and make your upcoming birth, your best birth!
As your doula, I will provide continuous physical, emotional and informational support before, during and after childbirth. The doulas role is not to replace your partner, but instead to provide calm, loving support for the both of you.
Clinical studies have found that a doulas presence at birth:
- result in shorter labors with fewer complications
- reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience
- reduces the need for pitocin (a labor-inducing drug), forceps or vacuum delivery
- reduces the requests for pain medication and epidurals
- reduces the incidence of cesareans
Research evidence shows that the quality services of a postpartum doula can:
- ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to a family
- improve parental satisfaction
- reduce the risk of mood disorders
